Flaxseed kissel: benefits and harms, how to cook

In the last 10 years, mankind has been actively interested in the medicinal properties, mechanisms of action, the benefits and harms of flaxseed jelly. The product is exceptional not only for its biological value, but also for other characteristics: it is not aggressive (like linseed oil), it is balanced, and has properties that have a beneficial effect on the human body.

The chemical composition of flaxseed jelly

Flax is a traditionally grown crop in Russia. Jelly made from its seeds has good taste and is of great benefit to the body.

There are more than 100 amino acids in living things, but only 12 of them are synthesized, the so-called fundamental, the rest (essential) enter the body with food. The absence of any amino acid affects the physical condition of a person:

  • lack of valine leads to impaired coordination of movements;
  • immunity suffers from a lack of lysine;
  • the absence of methionine threatens muscle weakness, functional disorders of the liver, and nervous disorders.

Linumin (flax protein) contains a complete composition of essential amino acids.

Lignans are plant hormones, antioxidants that prevent the development of tumors. The jelly contains them: 53579 μg per 100 g of dry matter. For comparison, flaxseed oil contains little or no flaxseed oil. The effect of plant estrogens on the human body is not well understood.

The jelly contains unsaturated fatty acids with an increased number of double bonds (omega-3, linolenic, arachidonic). Together they form vitamin F, which reduces the level of "bad" cholesterol in the liver and improves blood circulation in the vessels.

The jelly contains a lot of potassium, which (in terms of dry weight) is 7 times more than in bananas.

Nutritional value and calorie content of flaxseed jelly

Flaxseed carbohydrates are distinguished by one feature - the content of water-soluble polysaccharides (pentosans) in the composition. When they are soaked, mucus is formed, which forms the basis of flaxseed jelly. Grains in their shells have dietary fiber, which is represented by fiber, cellulose, pectin and lignin. They are classified as indigestible carbohydrates. They are not digested, but these nutrients are necessary for the intestinal microflora. The energy value is made up only of the main nutrients: carbohydrates, fats, proteins.

Minerals and vitamins, for all their nutritional benefits, do not have calories. The calorie content of nutrients in 100 g of flax seeds is 534 kcal, in the finished jelly - 250 kcal. It should be noted that the energy value is represented not by carbohydrates (there are few of them - 1%), but by proteins (18.3 g) and the composition of useful unsaturated acids (40.6 g).

Why flaxseed jelly is useful

It is worth noting the main beneficial properties of flaxseed jelly, thanks to which its use in food is medicinal. If you have flaxseed jelly in your diet:

  • the work of the heart is stabilized due to the removal of excess water from the body;
  • the intestinal microflora improves and the body rejuvenates;
  • the functions of the thyroid gland are normalized;
  • strengthens the immune system;
  • the risk of diabetes mellitus decreases;
  • weight returns to normal;
  • the level of "good" cholesterol (high density proteins) rises.

Flaxseed jelly is also useful for the vessels of the brain. Due to the presence of essential acids, vitamins and phytohormones, their walls are strengthened, memory and the ability to concentrate are improved.

Important! One of the long-chain Omega-3 acids (DHA) has a positive effect on neuronal function and hormone levels in the blood. During pregnancy, acid is passed from mother to fetus, contributing to the correct development of the brain.

Indications for the use of flaxseed jelly

The property of biologically active substances to gently affect the gastrointestinal mucosa makes linseed jelly a product from which you can get the maximum benefit without harm to health. It is recommended to take:

Due to its bactericidal properties, flaxseed jelly envelops the gastric mucosa, providing a healing and analgesic effect. It slightly alkalizes the body and is recommended for people with high acidity. The impact on the organ is gentle, soothing, not harmful.

With gastritis: 30 g of seeds are poured into 1 liter of water, kept for 5 hours, filtered. Drink 1/2 tbsp. before every meal.

Flaxseed jelly for weight loss

  • contains lignans - phytohormones that accelerate metabolic processes.

The benefits of linseed flour jelly for dieters are obvious. Due to the absorbing and antioxidant properties of fatty acids and dietary fiber, metabolic products (toxins, obsolete feces, toxins) are removed from the body, which allows you to adjust body weight.

The activity of the components of the jelly is as high, but the action (unlike dry seed) is soft, not harmful. Flaxseed jelly in a thermos

There is an opinion that insisting jelly in a thermos is harmful. The reason is the oxidation of the product when it comes into contact with the metal flask and the high temperature of the water. There are many arguments for and against this statement.

In favor:

  • there are thermoses with a glass flask, but even if it is metal, there will be no harm, because stainless steel is very inert, and nothing can oxidize in a short time;
  • the main oxidation of fatty acids occurs when oxygen and light are freely available, while the flask is tightly sealed with a stopper;
  • the composition of the jelly with substances extracted from the seeds is determined only by the temperature and cooling rate.

In the dispute about what flaxseed flour jelly brewed in a thermos has - benefit or harm, one thing is obvious: this method of steaming has positively proven itself in inflammatory processes of the gastrointestinal tract, time-tested and based on the experience of more than one generation. It is not difficult to prepare healthy jelly without harm to health.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. l. Flaxseed;
  • 450 ml of boiling water.

Preparation:

In the evening, place the seeds in a thermos, pour boiling water, seal it tightly. In the morning, drain and drink 3 times a day, half a glass for 40 minutes. before eating. The course is 10 days.

How to take flaxseed jelly correctly

Flaxseed infusion is not a medicine, but it has a powerful cleansing and tonic effect. Therefore, you should adhere to certain rules for using the drink:

  • you should not stock up on ground flaxseed for future use, you always need a fresh portion;
  • treatment lasts 10 days (1 course), a total of three courses are carried out, interrupting between them in 10 days;
  • strictly observe the daily norms of the product determined by the recipe.

Possible harm to flaxseed jelly and contraindications

People with allergic reactions to the components that make up its composition should know about the dangers of flaxseed elixir. It is dangerous, but this is the only reason jelly can be harmful.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use it. If you systematically violate the rules for taking and the quantitative rate of seeds during pregnancy, then instead of a healthy drink, there is a risk of getting toxic. Scientists have not studied the mechanisms of the effect of plant hormones on women during breastfeeding, so it is better to refuse this drink.

Flaxseed infusion should be taken with caution in case of calculous cholecystitis. It is a powerful choleretic agent that can move gallstones. Kissel has a small concentration of seeds and will not harm, but in case of acute exacerbations of pancreatitis, cholecystitis, colitis, diarrhea and diabetes mellitus, it is better to refuse it.

Conclusion

The benefits and harms of flaxseed jelly depend on compliance with the rules of use: the required dosage, storage conditions and taking into account the existing indications and contraindications. Due to its exceptional benefits and medicinal properties, the drink strengthens the immune system, energizes and makes life better.

Ivanova Raisa Andreevna, 32 years old, Voronezh
She gave linseed jelly to a child at 2 years old. A minute later, spots appeared, after 5 minutes - the whole body was completely covered with a rash, I called a doctor. The doctor scolded and said that it was an allergic reaction and that it was not worth experimenting with the child so early. So, my advice to moms is to consult a pediatrician first.
